Ruby Jane the Airstream!
If you follow us on IG and Facebook, you already know that we have taken on the project of renovating a 1971 Land Yacht Airstream. Tom and I have some serious wanderlust, and a goal of taking Ava and Owen to as many of the 59 national parks before they turn 18. (Read Here about that) Hopefully soon Ruby Jane will be our home on the road during our road trips around the country.
Here she is in our driveway. Tom spent the day inspecting and finally getting his hands dirty. Our plan is to redo the bathroom and kitchen. Installing the air conditioning unit, and finding a futon type couch for the front that will fit. She will also need new axels. IKEA here we COME! Our goal is to get her as road ready as soon as possible and camp a few times to see how the space works for us.
This is the front where a dinette that turns into a bed would go. Our plan is a sleeper sofa to start. Finding one that fits is going to be tricky. We quickly have looked at Ikea and Target, but the sizes are still a little too long. I love this. No matter what, this control panel is staying.Thoughts are to build new butcher block counter tops, new sink and faucet.
We are unable to keep her at home, and are lucky enough to have a couple friends offer their pole barns to us to keep her out of the elements. Both barns are close to us, but one was easier to get her into.
Tom has got his hands on the manual and is spending all his free time researching everything he can about airstreams. The plan is to do this ourselves, and of course with a little help from our talented friends!
Stay tuned for more updates!
